Meet Chef Roberto Cátala—a passionate culinary artist with over 15 years of experience in the restaurant and hotel industry, including luxury resorts. Born and raised in Puerto Rico with Dominican roots, Roberto’s heritage is at the heart of his cooking. His dishes are a vibrant celebration of his Caribbean upbringing, infused with bold flavors and a creative touch that reflects his deep love for the culinary arts.

Roberto’s journey began at just 15 years old, when his passion for food and hospitality inspired him to step into the kitchen. What started as a dream quickly turned into a lifelong pursuit of excellence. With a Bachelor of Science in Culinary Management and a Minor in Hotel Management from Universidad del Este (SUAGM), he built the foundation for what would become an extraordinary career.

His culinary style blends the rich traditions of Caribbean and Asian cuisines, creating unique flavors that tell a story with every bite. Over the years, Roberto has mastered the art of managing high-pressure kitchens, overseeing three-meal-period restaurants, leading in-room dining services, and organizing stunning banquets. He also has a flair for crafting special concept menus, menu planning, and costing—turning creative visions into unforgettable dining experiences.

In 2019, Roberto earned international recognition as part of the Puerto Rico National Culinary Team, winning Silver and Bronze medals at the prestigious Taste of the Caribbean competition. His career has taken him far and wide, from the culinary landscapes of Peru and Chile to Florida, Texas, and Hawaii. A defining moment in his career was working at Astrid Y Gaston, one of the world’s best restaurants, where he immersed himself in the art and flavors of Peruvian cuisine.

Today, Roberto continues to grow, challenge himself, and share his love for food with the world. His story is one of passion, creativity, and an unwavering commitment to excellence. Whether leading a team, designing a new menu, or perfecting a single dish, Chef Roberto Catala pours his heart into everything he does—a true reflection of his roots and his dedication to the craft.
